Roots & Rebellion

Welcome to Slightly Savage Homestead. Grown with a bit of grit and a lot of color, we are a small-scale, sustainable farm built on a foundation of local love and honest work.

Our Roots

Our story didn’t begin with a grand business plan; it started with a simple, personal passion for homesteading and a deep desire to reconnect with our food. We wanted to know exactly what was on our plates, how it was raised, and what impact it had on the earth. What began as a few backyard projects—getting our hands dirty in the soil, learning the rhythms of the seasons, and embracing the sometimes messy, beautiful chaos of growing our own food—quickly blossomed into something much larger.

As our harvests grew, so did our vision. We realized that the joy, health, and resilience we found in sustainable living shouldn't just be kept for our own table. We wanted to share it. We believe that true sustainability isn’t just about how we care for the soil, but how we show up for the people around us. With that guiding principle, our personal homesteading journey transformed into a vibrant agricultural business dedicated to serving our surrounding community.

Our Practices

At the heart of our homestead is a dual commitment to high-quality, ethical poultry and exceptional, fresh produce. We specialize in raising premium heritage poultry; you will never find Cornish Cross on our soil. Instead, we proudly focus on slow-growing, pasture-raised birds that are allowed to express their natural behaviors.

Alongside our poultry, our thriving market garden uses intensive, no-till organic practices to grow a wide variety of vibrant vegetables and fresh crops. By protecting the soil biology, we ensure that every basket we harvest is packed with maximum flavor and homegrown care.

To complement our annual crops, we are also cultivating several diverse, multi-layered food forests. This intentional, perennial landscape mimics natural ecosystems to produce fruits, nuts, berries, and herbs for years to come. It’s our way of building deep ecological resilience into the land, working with nature rather than trying to conquer it. We are proud to be pesticide and herbicide-free. That is a guarantee.

Our Community Promise

But for us, the harvest is only half the story. We firmly believe that feeding a community means making sure everyone has a seat at the table. That is why our donation practices are woven directly into the fabric of our business. A dedicated portion of everything we raise and grow on the homestead goes straight back into local food security initiatives to support our neighbors.

When you support Slightly Savage Homestead, you aren’t just purchasing ethically raised food or fresh garden produce; you are partnering with a local farm that pours its energy right back into the neighborhood. We are proud to be growing a stronger, more connected community—one harvest, one ethical choice, and one donation at a time.
