Order Processing Times

All live poultry and hatching egg orders are shipped Monday or Tuesday (excluding holidays).

You will receive another notification when your order has shipped. Please note that during high-volume seasons or extreme weather events, processing times may be slightly delayed.

Domestic Shipping Rates and Estimates

Flat Rate & Calculated Shipping: Shipping charges for standard supplies and merchandise will be calculated and displayed directly at checkout.

Live Animals & Eggs: All live chicks and hatching eggs are shipped exclusively via USPS Priority Express to ensure the safety and viability of the animals.

Free Shipping: We offer free standard shipping on domestic merchandise orders over $50 (Note: Free shipping does not apply to live animals or hatching eggs).

Hatching Egg Shipping & Hatching Disclaimer

We take immense pride in our packaging and do everything in our power to ensure your eggs arrive safely. Each egg is individually wrapped and securely cushioned to protect it during transit. Hatching eggs are shipped fresh and unwashed to preserve their natural bloom.

Hatch Rate: We regularly check our flock's fertility; however, due to the unpredictable nature of postal handling, temperature fluctuations during shipping, and individual incubation practices, we cannot guarantee your final hatch rate. We do guarantee that you are receiving fresh eggs packed with care!

Incubation Prep: Please let eggs rest point-down for 12-24 hours before incubating.

Damaged Eggs: All orders are shipped with USPS Priority Express. If your order arrived damaged, you MUST contact us within 12 hours of delivery in order to process claims.

Live Chick Shipping Disclaimer & Live Arrival Guarantee

The health and safety of our birds is our top priority. To ensure your babies spend as little time in transit as possible, we exclusively ship via Priority Express to
guarantee live arrival. We pack our day-old chicks securely, including heating
pads in cold weather to keep them warm for their journey.

Live Arrival Policy: The safe arrival of your birds is our priority. In the rare event of transit loss, claims for deceased chicks must be submitted with clear photos within 12 hours of delivery. Our Live Arrival Guarantee is strictly void if the birds are not picked up from the post office within 4 hours of arrival. Customers are responsible for monitoring tracking and ensuring prompt pickup

Home Care: Please have your brooder set up, warmed to 95°F, and ready with chick starter and fresh water before your babies arrive at the post office. Once the chicks are safely in your care, we cannot guarantee their continued health, but we are always happy to answer questions to help you get off on the right foot!

Order Minimums & Shipping Rules: In compliance with New York State agricultural regulations, all chick orders must contain a minimum of 6 birds. This is strictly for the health and safety of the animals. You may mix and match different breeds to meet this minimum. No exceptions will be made to this policy, including for local pickup.

Species Compatibility: Please note that while turkey poults can be shipped together with chicks, all quail chicks must be shipped in a separate order.

Local Farm Pickup

You can skip the shipping fees with free local pickup in Springville, NY. We will send you an email when your order is ready, along with pickup instructions.

6-Bird Minimum: Please note that the state-mandated 6-bird minimum still applies to all local chick pickups.

Strict 24-Hour Pickup Window: For the health and safety of the animals, live chick orders must be picked up within 24 hours of hatching.

Missed Pickups & Cancellations: If your order is not picked up within this 24-hour window, we reserve the right to cancel the order. Please note that a 50% non-refundable cancellation fee will be applied to all orders canceled due to a missed pickup window.

International Shipping

We do NOT offer international shipping at this time. We currently only ship within the continental United States.

How do I check the status of my order?

When your order has shipped, you will receive an email notification from us which will include a tracking number you can use to check its status. Please allow up to 48 hours for the tracking information to become available in the carrier's system.

If you haven’t received your merchandise order within 14 days of receiving your shipping confirmation email, please contact us at SlightlySavageHomestead@gmail.com with your name and order number.

If you haven't received your live poultry or hatching egg order within 5 days of receiving your shipping confirmation, please contact us at SlightlySavageHomestead@gmail.com with your name and order number.

Refunds, Returns, and Exchanges

Due to the nature of our products, all merchandise sales are final and non-returnable, with the sole exception of items damaged during shipping.
Live animals and hatching eggs are strictly non-returnable and non-refundable, except under the specific conditions outlined in our transit loss and damage policies above.
